Autumn is here and we just started up season two of delivering sauna & cold plunge experiences all over Mallorca. On wheels with our mobile barrel sauna. Packing the car with our portable sauna tents and inflatable cold plunges. Or our weekly sauna sessions at Ca Na Xesca - 10 min outside Palma. All experiences outdoor to get close to nature.

Now it´s time to reflect on the first 10 months, look towards the horizon and step into the presence.

Season one was first of all filled up with the confirmation that what we are doing is wanted. When leaving Norway just over a year ago with the idea of setting up a mobile sauna company we were not 100% sure of the demand. But what a year it has been.

We started out with the idea of renting out sauna on wheels and grew quite organically in ways we could not foresee. This was due to a mix of factors. Meeting beautiful souls, following the interest of the people on the island as well as following our own interests.

WEEKLY SAUNA & COLD PLUNGE SESSIONS

Addition one to the original plan was to arrange weekly sauna sessions at Ca Na Xesca. Why? Well this happened due to our new friendship with Anna and Alvaro - the owners of the finca where we built our first sauna. As Ca Na Xesca is both close to Palma and where the sauna is parked we asked if they could be interested in having weekly community sauna sessions on the finca. They happily said yes and we soon started up having people from all over the world sharing time in the sauna. From the not so usual suspects such as Brazil, Japan, New Zealand, Spain to the the countries with long sauna traditions such as the Northern European countries.

We love sharing time at Ca Na Xesca and are grateful for our collaboration with Anna and Alvaro. A friendship and collaboration that just keeps evolving. More about this later.

RENTING OUT & SELLING SAUNA TENTS

Addition number two were sauna tents. Why? Well there are lots of places on the island without road access and fincas without space for a mobile barrel sauna.

Years ago we tried the Russian sauna tent Mobiba. But with the war in Ukraine the Russian brand had problems with delivery. That opened the market for competition and new sauna tent producers emerged. After lots of research we found our collaborator Bast Sauna. A Swedish company started by three friends with the goal of creating the best sauna tents in the world. We instantly connected with the three friends who constantly develops the tents according to feedback from collaborators such as Sauna Tramuntana. The tents have been developed thoroughly amongst other in collaboration with engineers at a University in northern Sweden. This secures a solid and durable material that can tackle heat, water and fire while at the same time have such a low toxin level that it not only is far within the regulations but also has the same level as the normal wood saunas. Which not all sauna tents can brag about.

In addition to this the tents over 90 degrees and just a very good sauna experience. Plus the the tents looks estethically nice.

SAUNAS FOR SALE

Addition three was selling saunas. As we started seeing the interest in our wooden barrel sauna from the family run Canadian company Leisurecraft, we reached out to Leisurecraft to become their reseller in the Balearic region. They said yes and suddenly we could offer high quality saunas made of red cedar!

As we started using and renting out the sauna tents around the island we soon got confirmation about the quality and sauna experience of these tents and decided to ask Bast to represent them. Which they agreed on and suddenly Sauna Tramuntana sold both wooden saunas and sauna tents on Mallorca.

COLD PLUNGE

The last addition was the cold plunge. As Norwegians we grew up with cold exposure. Which is the geeky technical term of voluntarily exposing yourself to the cold with the goal of attaining certain benefits. Truth be told we didn´t exactly do this voluntarily all the time. Summertime the water temperature could be cold. As a young boy I remember the Summers down south at my uncle and aunt´s cabin. No shower facilities, 14 celcius in the ocean and being told to clean yourself in the ocean every morning.

Fast forward many years we started up Lilleborg Elvebadstue - a drop-in sauna by the beautiful Akerselva river that splits Oslo in the middle. This river became our cold plunge. No clue about the benefits we got or the breathing method that should be used. We just plunged intuitively.

Some years later we moved to Mallorca. But the cold water - how we missed it! Wintertime the pools does get down to 8 celsius , which quite frankly is cold enough to get lots of the benefits. But we really missed the cold rest of the season.

With so many other things last year we by chance came across Luke Wills - one of the first students of Wim Hoff and the most experienced instructor in cold exposure in Spain. Luke was just about to start up his first instructor course - Cryopro. Jonathan did the certification and some months later, filled with awe and lots of more knowledge -was ready to share the cold plunge with other people. Now we have inflatable cold plunges which we rent out on festivals, retreats and at private fincas. We also made it part of our weekly Sunday sessions at Ca Na Xesca called FIRE & ICE.

What is next?

We love to gather people sharing time while enjoying sauna and cold plunge. We will see what awaits but to do weekly sessions is something we want to build on. We love Ca Na Xesca and are looking forward to keep developing the space there.

We also see a growing demand of our barrel sauna rental and are now in a position where we need to turn people down. Therefore we have decided to invest in a new barrel sauna. This will enable us to deliver more outdoor experiences on the island and have more guests at the weekly sessions at Ca Na Xesca.

Cold plunge with a view

As we write this we are now 10 months old and love what we do. We will not sit still as we always develop and learning more by digging deeper into the way of the heat and the cold. That way we can deliver relaxing and energizing social outdoor experiences accompanied by knowledge. And of course GOOD VIBES!

On that note. If you have either want to collaborate or have any suggestions then we would love to hear from you! We do sauna and cold plunge anywhere (almost)!
